NWN2 - Mysteries of Westgate Previews @ Warcry and Thieves-Guild

14 May, 2008 (12:46) | Spiele & Games | oldgamer

A range of previews for Mysteries of Westgate based on last week’s press event have popped up today.

Our first look goes at Warcry.com

One of the larger complaints about the original Neverwinter Nights 2 was the lack of side quests and the linear nature of the game. Ossian has addressed this and addressed it well. There are over sixteen side quests as well as the main quest. Quests range from pure hack-n-slash to roleplay. The entire adventure and some quests offer multiple paths and multiple endings. As a result, Mysteries of Westgate weighs in at 15+ hours of game play.

Characters begin at level eight. Players can choose all classes available in NWN 2 and Miranda indicated that MoW is a boon for players who like ‘weaker’ characters. All character classes -can- be successful in MoW….

and a second preview can be found at Thieves-Guid.net

Mysteries of Westgate is compatible with either NWN2 or NWN2 with Mask of the Betrayer installed.   Having MotB installed will allow you to access all of the additional expansion content including the new base and prestige classes.  The Mysteries of Westgate Adventure Pack will include the following:

  • new VO - done by Giant Sandbox, and recorded at Blackman Productions, who also did the VO for Mass Effect, Jade Empire, KotoR and HotU
  • 25 minutes of new music
  • a new sewer tileset
  • 3 optional companions
  • 4 new creatures including the Quelzarn and Wererat
  • over 100 new and unique items; available from merchants or as loot

The new content will initially be locked but will be made available in the future (except for the custom items) most likely via a free downloadable hak pak.
