F.E.A.R. 2: Project Origin  Alex Simmons and Martin Robinson from IGN UK got their hands dirty with the online modes in Monolith’s scarefest shooter. Be afraid…

Considering F.E.A.R. 2 is coming out in February next year - on Friday 13, naturally - very little has come out about the game. If the original is anything to go by the single-player story mode will be a blood-curdling adventure into the paranormal, with freaky child Alma returning to scare the pants of anyone who dares to pick up a pad. For the time being, Monolith is keeping details of the single-player under wraps - tune in next week if you want to find out more on that front - but the developer did take time out to run us through the multiplayer game, which expands on what the original offered by serving up more maps, more weapons and, more interestingly, big mechs armed with bloody great weapons!
Playing against the developers online, IGN UK shooter kings Alex and Martin went hands-on to find out what all the fuss is about.
Alex: The thing that makes F.E.A.R. 2 different from other first-person shooters is its atmosphere - it’s a genuinely chilling game to play, at least in the single-player. It’s worth noting from the start that little of that translates across into the multiplayer - there are no horror-themed shootouts or the like, just variants on multiplayer staples such as deathmatch, capture the flag and king of the hill.
