Creative launches USB X-Fi  - Affordable external option

Creative has launched yet another X-Fi branded product with the Sound Blaster X-Fi Surround 5.1 which is an external sound card that connects to your computer via USB.

The USB sound card supports X-Fi Crystalizer, various CMSS-3D modes and EAX HD which makes this a pretty high-end solution even compared to some of the cheaper PCI cards.

As the product name suggests, there’s support for 5.1-channel and this comes via three 3.5mm audio jacks. Furthermore it has a 3.5mm jack for line-in and one for microphone input, as well as two RCA jacks for stereo audio out and an optical S/PDIF out for connecting to an external amplifier etc.

At US$59.99 it’s more affordable than the X-Fi Xtreme Audio Notebook for those looking at upgrading their notebook audio and it offers some additional features , but not quite as portable.
