Boxing News: Firat Arslan vs Virgil Hill and Edgar Sosa vs Roberto "Mako" Leyva

26 November, 2007 (10:09) | Sport | User Imageadmin

Hill talks about the future!

After his twelve round points defeat against Firat Arslan in Dresden, Germany, 43-year-old future Hall of Famer Virgil Hill doesn't sound like he's ready to hang up the gloves just yet. "We're going to look at that," Hill said. "I need to take some time off, I trained pretty hard for this fight…..there are some opportunities with Daruisz Michalczewski and Graciano Rocchigiani coming out of retirement. And the people can see that the reason why I wasn't as good fighting Maske was because I was injured and we could be looking at a third fight. I think it would be great for Germany."

Sosa retains WBC title!

WBC light flyweight world champion Edgar Sosa (30-5, 16 KOs) succesfully defended his title via fourth round TKO over former champion Roberto "Mako" Leyva (24-7, 20 KOs). A hook to the liver ended the fight. The bout headlined Zanfer Promotions' huge "Batalla en el Golfo" card at the Beto Avila Stadium in Veracruz, Mexico. In other action, WBC female super bantamweight champion Jackie Nava (14-2-2) won a ten round unanimous decision over Lina Rivas (14-11), and Julio Cesar Chavez' son Omar Chavez (5-0, 4 KOs) went the distance for the first time, taking a four round unanimous decision over local fighter Miguel Hernández (3-5-2, 1 KO) in a welterweight bout.
